SAFETY RULES

Event
Safety Rules / Information

Vehicle condition

The condition of the vehicle is essential for our own safety and that of other road users. The vital points of the vehicle should be checked sufficiently in advance to be able to check for possible faults before setting off on the event

Battery

If the battery requires maintenance, check the level of the fluid level in the battery cups, topping it up, if necessary, with distilled water.

It should always be clean and dry. The terminals and connections should be cleaned and smeared with anti-acid grease.

Wheels and tyres

The wheel consists of the rim and tyre. The rim is the metal part and the tyre is the elastic part.

Don't forget that the tyre carries the load of the vehicle and ensures the transmission of engine and braking power. It also maintains the vehicle's trajectory and participates in the suspension. As it is the only contact patch, it is very important to maintain it.

The tyre must not show any deformations, cuts or tears. The inflation pressure of all tyres, including the spare, shall be checked regularly. This check shall be made when the tyres are cold.

When a tyre has to be changed due to wear or other causes, the new tyre must not only be of the same type as the others, but also of the same size and tread. If you notice vibrations in the steering wheel, you should take the vehicle to a workshop to have the wheels balanced and aligned.

Windscreen washers and wipers

Good visibility is essential for our safety, so we must always keep the windows of our vehicle clean.

Although the windscreen wipers are effective, they do not reach the entire glass and due to contamination and general dirt, they may contain grease or other products that are difficult to clean, so the entire glass must be cleaned periodically with a cleaning product.

Brakes

The brakes are a very important organ of the vehicles since they allow us to stop when necessary, to reduce the speed or to leave it immobilized, for that reason it is necessary to maintain in good state of operation.

The brake fluid level should be checked, which should always remain the same. The brake system carries fluid in a small reservoir under the bonnet. This reservoir has two stripes indicating the maximum and minimum level. The fluid must always be at the same level. If the fluid has leaked, you should take it to a specialist workshop as it is most likely to have a leak and the problem cannot be solved by adding more fluid.

If we are driving and we notice that the brake pedal sinks more than normal, almost to the bottom, we should check the fluid level at that moment as it may be because it is leaking.

If the fluid level is correct, however, we still notice that it does not brake well, it may be because the brake shoes or pads are worn. I should take the car to the workshop because if it continues to brake like this, not only are we endangering our safety, but we could also cause a serious breakdown. Modern vehicles are usually fitted with an indicator that shows the condition of the brake pads or shoes.

Oil and greasing

Oil is used to minimise friction between engine parts in order to prevent the engine from overheating and premature wear of these parts. The oil forms a thin film that prevents the parts from rubbing against each other. It is therefore very important that the engine is well lubricated.

Cooling system

Temperatures inside the engine can reach 2000 degrees Celsius, which can lead to melting of the engine parts and consequently to seizure between the parts.
